REPORTS TO: Library Director


QUALIFICATIONS: Although an MLS is not required, formal education in early literacy, library science, education, or a related field and/or proof of holding an Advanced Level Librarian Certification from the Maine State Library, is necessary. A minimum of five years experience in a public library, ideally with Youth Services is required, as well as advanced computer skills. Computer skills will include familiarity working with an ILS, spreadsheets, video software, PowerPoint and standard word processing formats.

Experience with the Maine State Library Consortium, in either the MILS or Minerva system, highly desirable.

A self-starter and lifelong-learner, able to glean new information quickly and assist library patrons with varied tasks, including technology and electronic resources a must, as well as an outgoing personality with a desire to present engaging programs to children and teens. The successful candidate will be flexible and open to change, with a healthy and appropriate sense of humor as well as having excellent customer service skills and a true interest in public service.

Evening and weekends required. Work is primarily indoors and requires bending, stooping, reaching and being able to lift up to 40 lbs.
